Interesting article on Haiti from the most famous travel & tourism magazine.

The beach at Les Anglais (Sud).

We don’t have the opportunity to read such interesting pieces on Haiti in the International press too often. You may find the article a bit long but I think it’s worth reading. Click on the link here.

  1. It's an interesting article, and I enjoyed reading it. I love the idea of selling the wreck, actually. Of ourse, I would rather have a nice and lovely Cap-Haitien with clean streets and cahrming and repaired houses to attract the tourists, but let's not kid ourselves, this is not going to happen anytime soon. Not that it's impossible, but if we wait until the town is nice and tourist-ready, we might never start. Hopefully, if the citadelle -ladabee projct works -- and if we get some serious mayor -- we will be able to have a better Cap-haitien

  2. I'm glad you mention the "serious mayor" issue Monique. Not that the current one is not serious, the current mayor may be doing the best that he can. But your point stresses the need for a better leadership in the city.In my opinion, contrary to what happens in Jacmel, the people with the most skills and financial ressources in Okap are not sufficiently involved in the public life of the city. For me it is a critical element in the search for better leadership.

  3. Exactly my point. There is no sense of ownership, so people don't consider the town as theirs and do nothing to help it progress. Tout bagay se travay leta. They don't even think about how it will benefit them in the long run when they get involved. We need people who are really thinking outside of the box, and who are also good motivators. The current leaders are not doing bad, but we need more than that now. We need 'extraordinary' instead of 'ok'.
